It is quite common to have barcodes for much of our daily business.
For instance, you have a barcode for discounts at stores, maybe one for membership at the public library, or the gym, and so on.
Each of these barcodes often comes on a small piece of plastic that you have to save and have with you.
What a pain.
You can also just take a photo of the barcode with your iPhone and use that. That works fine...
...but then the photo
ends up higher and higher in your list of photos, and to access it you have to find it.
What a pain.
What this app does is to allow you to keep track of your barcodes and access in a simple way.
Less pain! Voila, BarcodeManager!
Barcodes are nothing more than a way to transform letters and numbers and other characters into bars and spaces that can be easily scanned with a laser, and decoded. So an particular barcode is just a character string.
In the app, there are 3 views, accessible at the bottom of the app:
This is the default view when running the app, and contains your list of barcodes, each one of which has a name. Tap on the name and the barcoce is shown, and this is what you can show to any scanner.
When you tap on a barcode you will also see a button called "Share Image". Tap on that and it will allow you to send the barcode to someone as a text message or email (or any of the standard iOS sharing methods).
Touch and swipe left to delete the barcode entry.
This is the view where you can input a new barcode. You can start with either a text string that you want to convert to a barcode and save, or you can start with the camera facing the barcode that you want to grab and save. In the camera input, the camera turns on, use that to take a photo of the barcode. When the system detects a barcode, it will present the corresponding text that is decoded, show you the barcode it generates (a fresh one!), and ask you to input a name for this new barcode. Type the name and hit "Save" to save it. The name that you type is the name that it will have in the list in the Barcodes view.
Goes through the above!
